The presented result opens up significant opportunities for energy savings in various compression processes. Compressing gases such as hydrogen, air, and ethylene to high pressure, requiring large amounts of energy, is an example of a promising application. Energy savings are achieved by replacing electricity with readily available low-grade heat sources (<100 °C).
